Improving people’s wellbeing is the guiding principle of our political action. That is why we fight discrimination, marginalisation, and poverty, and promote strong welfare states in Europe. That is why we invest in healthcare, education and equal opportunities for all.
Cities and urban areas are home to 75% of the world´s population. We want liveable, sustainable cities, that are respectful with diversity, open, and secure. And we want cities that provide strong public services, and healthy public spaces, and that leave no-one behind.
We want women to have an equal share of wealth and economic and political power. We must close the gender pay and pension gaps. We must fight harassment and discrimination on all fronts. Socialism is equality. This publication has been put together by PES Women, the women’s organization of the PES.

We fully support the green transition, but we are socialists and we believe that it shouldn’t leave anyone behind. Environmental sustainability is an effort of our societies as a whole. We must accompany workers from carbon-intensive sectors, as well as families, with policies to help them. The transition must be socially sustainable.
We are proudly pro-European because we believe in the foundational values of the EU: peace, democracy, prosperity and solidarity. We want to reform our common project to respond to the people’s needs, to create a more social Europe. The Future of the EU is written today!
Inequalities are unjust and damaging for society and for democracy. Unfortunately, they have increased over the past decades due to the prevailing conservative-liberal economic agenda. But the tide has changed: it’s time for redistribution and social investment. We are ready to lead this change.
The euro is one of the most ambitious political projects of all time, but it lacks completion. The PES supports the strengthening of the single market and an EU banking and capital union. We believe that, through common rules and solidarity, we will reach upward economic convergence.
The digital economy can lead to social dumping, unless it is efficiently regulated. There are workers behind apps and we are going to make sure that their rights are protected at work, in case of unemployment or illness, or that they can have a pension after they retire. Workers’ rights are our core business.
